June 28, 2008 - Ava Worn OUT!
Ava started swimming lessons with the City of Allen on Monday and up until Thursday, I could not watch what she was learning while trying to keep Jack away from the pool. Hiding in the lobby with a rowdy one year old, makes it hard to participate in Ava's swim lesson experience, but I finally cornered someone in charge and found out a few things.
Ava is a class II swimmer according to Red Cross, and well in the middle of her swim class. She is not afraid of the water and does keep herself afloat without help if forced to. She can put her head under the water and blow bubbles too. That was great to hear, but I still wasn't sure just how much she was doing until today.
Kyle and I took the kids to Isabel Marsden's 7th birthday party and we all went swimming in their pool. The whole time we were there, Ava WAS SWIMMING!!! She was literally jumping off the edge to Kyle or I and swimming to us with no flotation devices. We would hold her for a minute after she made it to us and then send her back to the edge. She was doing it all by herself. She never went under and wasn't scared. She was amazing and was even the star of the pool with her new-found skills!! She was so worn out from all of it that she fell asleep while watching Kyle play video games, which never happens, how sweet!
