Taking a Break

I have been missing our old house, our old neighborhood and our friends from our old neighborhood since we moved back in March.  Living in the rental hasn't distracted me from how awesome things were over in Quail Run, so when I got the chance to meet up with someone from the old stomping grounds-I was thrilled.  Change is hard, no matter how old you are.

Ava came with me to visit and she seemed as happy as me to be there!

Farmhouse Sink

I have been on the fence about getting on the farmhouse sink bandwagon, but apparently I bought a ticket too, because our house will have a big installed right here!  Ava looks pretty happy about it, or maybe she's smiling about her volleyball team's undefeated record that continued at today's game.

Cabinets Are Here

Our morning trip to the house after dropping Ava off at school yielding a quite large surprise-all the cabinets were arriving at the house!  It was too much to walk through in the few minutes we had before needed to get to the gym and take Jack to school, so we came back right after Jack was dropped off.

Master Vanities

Kitchen

It was seriously like Christmas for me to see it all being installed, because of all the time and customizations I had spent weeks pouring over.  Not a single cabinet in our house is what came with our plan.  Not only did we redesign the master vanities from the ground up, we customized every bit of the cabinets from drawer placement to removal of doors to configuration of drawers/doors to placement and just about everything in between.

The cabinet guy that I worked with couldn't have been more patient with me and was very good at suggesting things I wouldn't have thought of on my own that still meshed well with our aesthetic.

Had Me In Tears

After an employee insisted all the kids needed hats, Ben was obsessed with putting on/taking off his.  He wasn't very gentle with the paper hat and ended up totally shredding it, while not hesitating one bit to put it on and off a few more times.  My favorite part was when it was so broken that it wouldn't stay on his head so he decided he would just hold it in place.  I was laughing hysterically in  a public place!

Good Idea

While Kyle was at the game with Jack, I decided to take advantage of Happy Hour and half price shakes at Steak 'N Shake after picking Ava from school.  I think it was a hit with all involved.   We all shared some child size shakes (Ava-Smores, Norah-M n M's and Mom/Ben-double chocolate fudge).

Daddy Time

Kyle took Jack to a surprise Texas Rangers game today.  I didn't get to see his reaction when Kyle picked him up from school, but if he was grinning this big after a 3 hour baseball game in the sun-he must have been bouncing off the walls earlier!  The seats were great, so maybe he was actually entertained by the sport as well as the food!

Full of Life

Norah has been called spunky by most, with the occasional wild child compliment thrown in, but we think that most likely, she just has a zest for life coupled with an over the top personality that might not be her parents' favorite all the time, but will definitely afford her the spice of life.

Brick House

It seems like we have been waiting too long for this stage of the house, but after selecting the stucco color on Thursday, agreeing on a buff mortar wash with buff cast stone on Friday, the brick went up on Saturday!

Busy

Ben is so busy these days. He may think he's playing, but it's mostly just mess making in my eyes!  It wouldn't be less than awesome at times to find these messes if the house wasn't already a shanty of boxes and things laying about without a place to go.

This particular mess occurred while I was taking a shower.  Little Benson unloaded all 200 of my cotton rounds and after discovering his blunder decided picking them up and putting them in the sink would solve the problem entirely!

Little Guy

Ben is such a sweetie and by far everyone's favorite playmate.  He is laid back, yet fun-loving and pretty tough about all the abuse he gets from his siblings.  All in all, thank goodness for Benny!

Wave Pool

Kyle has figured out how to use a boogie board to make a wave pool in the backyard, it is a lot of fun for everyone but Norah, notice her trying her best to get out of the pool!  She has gotten sucked under more than once, but Ava and Jack laugh hysterically the whole time.
