Urgent Care OR School?

Ben hasn’t been feeling great the last few days and started complaining about not being able to breathe well!  It was unsettling to be up with him in the middle of the night with no way of relieving him. I laid in bed with him for an hour before he felt like he could sleep. This morning I decided urgent care was a better option than school. The dr. said Ben was reacting to either a virus or allergies and prescribed some steroids.  Ben perked up once we left and even made a trip with me to the store to pick out some school supplies.

Norah, on the other hand, went to school!  She was our only kid who made it to school today and look at that happy face!  Ava and Jack are doing online school for at least this semester and started their work at home while I took Norah to school and Ben to urgent care.

First Day of “School” 2020!!

This year’s end of summer festivities landed two days before school started, allowing the little kids, Kyle and I to attend Ava’s first game of the pre-season!!  It seemed like a great activity to do while Jack attended basketball practice, until we arrived with our masks and the gym was 1000 degrees!!   Norah and Ben couldn’t help but remind us how horrible it was to be so hot, in masks, while Ava played 4 games!  It was an hour and half of discomfort and we were all thrilled to leave and end the day!  Dinner at cafe Rio and twisted sugar helped a little, but when Ava didn’t get home until 10:15 (after leaving at 1), it was not the best day!!

This morning it seemed as if everyone was anxious and excited and even managed to wake up early enough to enjoy some pillsbury cinnamon and orange rolls before opening some schultutes!!  The kids were excited about the new books, pjs or sandals and candy inside!  I was surprised the schultutes happened this year with all the craziness we have been dealing with!

End of Summer Boating!!

We usually try and have one last hurray on the last day of summer, but tomorrow Ava has a volleyball game she needs to be at at 1:15-making it tough to spend much time boating. We opted to do it tonight as well as enjoy dinner on the lake.

It was a perfect evening!  The sun was out and the wind was barely noticeable!  The wave was great for surfing and Norah, Jack and I all had the best rides of the entire summer!  The kids swam while we filled the tube and then the kids screamed in delight while Kyle towed them behind the boat for the rest of the night!

Raspberry cheesecake ice cream with a dark chocolate and graham cracker swirl was devoured after showers and then everyone seemed ready for bed!  We got to attend meet the teacher appointments earlier in the day that wiped everyone out apparently!

Puzzle In A Day!

This 1,000 piece puzzle was pretty much how Jack spent his day!!  Not a total waste of time in my opinion!!

Finally Did It!!

Ulli is 2 years, 3 months now and as healthy as can be-so it seemed like a good time to neuter him!!  He did great with the anesthesia and surgery and has been rocking his donut pillow ever since!  He doesn’t seem to be loving the restriction the collar gives him, but he definitely needs help leaving his incision alone.

Weber Warrior!!

Ava and Kyle have been hard at work all summer at the church gym and all that work has finally paid off!  Ava survived 4 days of 4 hour tryouts and made both the first and second cut!  She is on the sophomore team for now, but I foresee her getting moved up to JV any minute now!!

Dad Award!!

In case you can’t tell, this is a balloon version of the nazgĂșl from The Lord of the Rings!  This black rider (made in blue) sits atop his giant green dragon steed!  So impressive that Kyle made this all on a whim and blew Ben’s mind in the process!  Love that Ben is still loving Lord of the Rings and has even been reading the books!!

For Real!!

Today Ben tried to get up on the surfboard on his own and began to get fairly frustrated by his inability. We suggested a few things that didn’t seem to help and then offered to have Kyle jump in the water and get up on the board with Ben.  It was a priceless moment seeing Ben fill with elation at the fact that he was in reality surfing!!  These two couldn’t stop smiling the duration of all 3 rides!!  To dismount Ben spun off the board and landed softly in the water seconds before Kyle joined him!!

Getting Ready!

Next week Ulli will be getting neutered and will need to wear a pillow (instead of a cone) around his neck to keep him away from his incisions. Today the girls made Ulli this miniature version of a pillow and he didn’t seem to mind too much!!  He also looked adorable wearing a heart shaped balloon!!  He is so loved!!
