Creepy Snowman!!

Using golf balls for eyes on this guy was a genius idea Kyle  had.  He and the girls started building this guy right before he needed to leave for the airport.  They worked feverishly until it was time to go and the end product can be seen from the street!  Kyle had to run and didn’t make it into the picture though!

Snowball!

Ben and I were enjoying throwing giant balls of snow at Ulli, but once in a while we would just eat one!!  Ben and Jack worked on a sledding run for a bit, but the powder was not sticking at all-so soft!

Snowshoeing

Took these two snowshoeing on the hill next to the house.  The marshmallow world is so fun!!  Ulli was so excited and thankfully couldn’t get too far away in the snow that went up to his stomach!

12 inches!!

Yesterday it snowed for 24 hours straight!!  We ended up getting about 12 inches, only 5 inches less than our ski resort. The 17 inches they received was so fun to ski on yesterday and the foot of snow in the yard will provide some fun all day today!!

Cool Gift!

Jack got his last birthday gift in the mail today. He has been asking about it everyday and was thrilled to be able to eat a few pieces of it before heading to school and then on to his basketball game against Roy.

Smore’s Cake!!

Jack submitted his birthday cake request this week while Kyle was out of town.  I picked up all the ingredients and Kyle spent nearly 7 hours perfecting this masterpiece.  Not sure how Jack managed so much homemade goodness from his parents, but this definitely is a cake for the books-look at all those toasted marshmallow buttercream, graham cracker crunchies and ganache layers!!

Blew Them Out!

Somehow, Jack managed to blow out all 14 candles on this cake after losing the foosball championship!  He sure is a brave boy to muster that kind of comeback!

Birthday Games!

Jack’s birthday is on a Sunday this year, which means two days of celebrations!  Yesterday we went skiing, and I did jack’s chore for him while he worked on BYU and played video games!!  Today, we were invited to Matt and Kenzi’s house for a fun dinner and games, but when their family started battling a stomach bug, we decided to stay home and make the best of it!

Having homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast, watching an uplifting basketball movie while eating popcorn, helping with the sacrament for home church and having a family fooseball tournament were the substitute activities that were just as fun!

Homemade Laberkase!!

This kid must be truly beloved for his parents to drive almost an hour away to find the ingredients needed to make homemade laberkase!  In addition to the drive, turning pork belly into laberkase was truly a labor of love!  We love you buddy!!

Fourteen!!

Can’t believe this guy is so old!  He’s looked old for awhile now, but it hasn’t felt real until today!!  Can’t believe we have 6’5”, 205 Lb son!!  Love that Jack has always been our giant teddy bear.  Hopefully he can stay sweet and stop tapping into the hormones too much!

Somehow we managed to find gifts for the boy who has everything but a phone. Jack is really into basketball and other manly things like knife throwing and building stuff. The high tops were a last minute idea that Jack seemed to be really excited.

Better!

Norah got her stitches out last week and we battled the butterfly bandages all week and ended up with this for the final reveal. We know it will get smaller the further away from the day of injury it gets. In the meantime, Norah is able to start playing volleyball again and is excited to be done with bandages for a while!

Picturesque

This pooch and this backdrop both look perfect!  What a picture perfect place we live!  There should be more movies filmed here-it is breathtaking!!

2 Miles

There was a storm yesterday that yielded about 4 inches of fresh powder. I tried to take the kids skiing before school, but ended up forgetting my ski boots at home and cancelled the trip. It was so amazing outside, I had to get out. Ulli was an eager companion and hiked 2 miles for an hour and a half around the mountain by our house. What a great way to spend an afternoon!
